AHSEC Syllabus 2025-26: The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) is the primary authority that is entrusted with the responsibility to regulate and supervise higher secondary education in the state of Assam. Established on June 1, 1984 by Govt. of Assam, the council has played a significant role in enhancing the quality of education by introducing various innovative measures.
On September 13,2024 AHSEC was merged into Assam State Education Board (ASEB). However the established systems and procedures of AHSEC still continue to guide the higher secondary education in the state of Assam.
AHSEC has a very detailed and comprehensive syllabus designed to guide the higher secondary students to prepare for both the boards examination as well as competitive entrance examinations like NEET, JEE, CEE, CUET etc.

Exam Pattern
As per the guidelines of AHSEC, the exam pattern for 2025-26 will have four sections:
Section A: 10 marks (Objective)
Section B: 25 marks (Very short Answer)
Section C: 20 marks (Short Answer)
Section D: 45 marks (Long Answer)
Papers that only have theory component will be of 100 marks, whereas those that have practical components will have a 70-30 split for theory and practical.
The duration of the examination is usually 3 hours and 15 minutes.Â
Assessment
In the annual examination of class 11, a grading system is usually followed by the council. The criteria of grades is given as below:
- 100-91: A1
- 90-81:Â A2
- 80-71:Â B1
- 70-61:Â B2
- 60-51:Â C1
- 50-41: C2
