The science stream includes subjects that cover the theoretical as well as practical applications of modern as well as traditional science. The core science subjects that are included in the AHSEC syllabus are : Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Computer Science and Environmental Science.

Students from either of the streams will have to appear in 5 subjects, out of which 2 subjects are compulsory language papers (English and MIL) and the other 3 are elective as per their choice.
The question papers in examination consist of 4 sections :
Most of the papers are of 100 marks. However there are certain subjects with practicals (physics, chemistry and biology). The breakdown of marks for theory and practical components is 70:30.

In case of papers without practicals 30% of marks is required in each subjects
In subjects with practicals , 30% is required in the theory component and 40% is required in the practical component.
Students must pass both components saperately.
There are two (2) compulsory language papers: English and one MIL . Instead of MIL, students can also opt for Alternative English.
Subject changes are governed by the rules set by AHSEC and individual school/college. Generally students are allowed to change subjects within a stipulated time at the beginning of the academic session.
In subjects having only theory component, students must obtain 30% of the total marks; whereas in case of subjects having practical component students must obtain 30% marks in theory and 40% in practical
